Writing: 
-Paragraph Structure, Summary Paragraphs (fiction and nonfiction) and Persuasive Writing
-Building Effective Sentences (grammar focus - variety of sentence types/lengths, Combine sentences, expand sentences, edit sentences - lessons 12, 13 and 14 of Language Power Now F book)
Students should be writing/journaling daily in their LA notebooks/duotangs.  They can respond to articles, things that are happening in the news etc.  The idea is that they are developing their vocabulary, working on organizing complete and well published pieces of writing and improving their penmanship (in a keyboard driven modern world).

Diagnostic Easter Island (main idea, inference and Summary)
Paragraph All About Me
Creating History Primary Source Explanation 
Compare the life of the Metis to that of European Settlers
Summary of the article Adrenaline
Persuasive Essay
Monologue for Streetscape
Reading:  
-Determine  the main idea
-Summarize the text (fiction/nonfiction)
-Basic comprehension of text (multiple choice and short answers, Concussion Questions - prediction, inference, basic comp. questions, main idea and cartoon analysis) 
-Making logical/supported inferences (usie It Says, I say and So strategy/graphic organizer to support ideas)
-Reading Strategies: Reading with a focus, infer/make predictions and making connections

Students should be reading every day for a minimum of 20 minutes.  Approximately every two weeks I will book the students in for a library period where they can exchange their books.  They can also exchange their  books at lunch.

-Diagnostic Easter Island (Multiple Choice, Main Idea, Inference and Bias)
-Chapter 1 History Jot Notes
-Adrenalin Final Assessment: Summary, Inference and Main Idea
-Malala Response Questions 
-Research Jot Notes for Monologue (streetscape)
-Research Jot notes for Teen Teacher
Oral:
-Use listening and speaking skills (voice, tone, and body language) to effectively communicate during whole class and group 
-Expand on others' ideas and demonstrate leadership skills by prompting classmate to participate in discussions (DPA presentation)
Assessments:  
I am Poem Presentations
Group Discussion Dialogue (contributing ideas, listening attentively)
DPA Presentation
Streetscape Presentation (monologue)
Group Dialogue during Teen Teacher
Teen Teacher Presentation

Media:
-Use technology to demonstrate an understanding of concepts and produce creative media for specific purposes (I am Poem, Goal Shoe)
