I recently wrote a blog on Aladdin, which I said was one of my favourite Disney movie. But to say my most favourite one, it would be Tangled. It is about a most wanted man named Flynn Rider(Eugene Fitzherbert). He steals the lost princess' crown, then runs away to hide in a tower, which so happens is where Rapunzel lives. Rapunzel had always wanted to see the lanterns, but Mother Gothel doesn't let her ever get outside to tower walls. This is because she needs Rapunzel's magical hair to keep her young. So when Flynn stumbles upon the tower, she bribes him to take her outside, in return of the crown. Together they set off on a fantastic journey filled with surprising heroes, laughter and suspense.

Pizza is one of my favourite foods! Originating from Naples, Italy, it is an oven-baked flat bread typically topped with a tomato sauce, cheese and various toppings. It is also one of the most popular foods in the world. Here are some facts about pizza (http://pizza.com/fun-facts):
  • 94 percent of Americans eat pizza regularly
  • Pizza accounts for more than 10 percent of all food service sales
  • Over 5 billion pizzas are sold worldwide each year
  • Pizzerias represent 17% of all restaurants
  • Eating pizza once a week can reduce the risk of esophageal cancer

Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon is a manga 12 book series by Naoko Takeuchi that I like to read. It's about a teenage girl named Usagi Tsukino who is a sailor guardian and works with 8 other guardians to save Earth from forces of evil. Luna, her talking pet cat and coach, helped her realize who she was in the beginning and tasks her to find the other guardians and the moon princess. Later in the series, she finds out she's the moon princess brought back to life, along with her other guardians/friends who resembled the other planets. The author at first wrote Codename: Sailor V, but the later made the main character in that book one of Usagi's guardian friend. This manga have also been made into a T.V. show in the late 90's too.

Thompson Tunes

Last week on May 8th and 9th was Thompson Tunes! The show and the songs were all great and enjoyable. It was really fun for all the people there, especially the ones performing the music. The one thing I don't like about these concerts is that the instrumental's music didn't change for the past few years. When I was in grade six two years ago they played a song, and it was played again this year. I guess they want all students and parents not to miss the song or something. But other than that, Thompson Tunes was really amazing, and about half the school was in the performance whether it was in choir, Thunder, or band. All these people will also be going to Wonderland in June as a reward, and I am looking forward to it!

On May 2nd, I watched the morning performance of the Aladdin play. I thought it was really good and well rehearsed. All the actors were all in character, and the songs they sang were really great too. I thought it was a bit better than the one the school did two years ago, Beauty and the Beast because I knew the Aladdin story better, and it is one of my favourite Disney movies. Even though the whole production was fantastic, what I didn't like was the fact they didn't put the character, Abu, Aladdin's pet monkey and friend, in it. Otherwise, RTMS put on a great show where even Hazel McCallion came to watch.

Spongebob=Seven Deadly Sins

As you know, SpongeBob Squarepants is a cartoon show on T.V. for kids. But what you might not know is that it is based on the seven deadly sins. Here is the list of the main characters and what deadly sin they resemble:
  1. Sloth- Patrick (He is really lazy and just likes to sleep all day.)
  2. Wrath- Squidward (Hatred and Anger. Both describes his emotions, since half the show he's just yelling at SpongeBob to stop bothering him)
  3. Greed- Mr.Krabs (He's always wanting more money)
  4. Envy- Plankton (Super jealous of Krabs because he runs a more successful restaurant)
  5. Gluttony- Gary (This means liking to eat food. SpongeBob always says he's gotta feed Gary a lot)
  6. Pride- Sandy (Takes a lot of pride in who she is and that she's from Texas
  7. Lust- SpongeBob (Excessive love of others. SpongeBob always wants to be friends with everybody and doesn't seem to realize they don't like him back as much. Think of Squidward.)

Nutella is basically hazelnut chocolate spread. I love nutella because it taste so good and creamy, and just because it's another form of chocolate! It was introduced in the market in 1964, manufactured by the Italian company Ferrero, invented by Pietro Ferrero. Here are some facts about this spread you might not know:
  • It used to be just block of it sold to customers, but later became the creamy version we all know
  • One jar of Nutella is sold every 2.5 seconds
  • There's a World Nutella Day (Feb 5)
  • In a single day, over 70 million hazelnuts are used in the production of Nutella worldwide
  • Before it was given the name Nutella, it was sold by the name Supercrema

Harry Potter

I'm pretty sure almost everyone know what Harry Potter is. It is a seven book series by J.K. Rowling about a boy who discovers he is a wizard at 11, and goes to school to learn magic. Along the way he discovers more about himself, and his past with Voldemort, an evil wizard. This is my favourite book series because I like the fictional world Harry lives in, the story fits together perfectly throughout the entire series. I like all the wizard things and places the author invented, like Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, chocolate frogs, butterbeer, Invisibility Cloak and more. I watched the first and last movie, but I thought the book was better. If you haven't read this series, then.. you should.

World Autism Awareness Day

posted Apr 1, 2014, 6:30 AM by Unknown user   [ updated Apr 7, 2014, 3:17 PM by PrakashH 84 ]

April 2, 2014 was the world's seventh annual World Autism Awareness Day. Organizations on this day help raise awareness on autism or ASD, and raise money on this special day. Autism affects 1 in 68 children, and there is no known cure for it. ASD affects over 2 million individuals in the U.S. and tens of millions worldwide. To help bring awareness, people wear blue, and some buildings around the world light it up blue. RTMS had acknowledged the day too, by having staff and students wearing blue to school.

Same Love

The lyrics from Macklemore's song "Same Love", is about how people "become so numb to what we're saying". Meaning we don't notice or care what words we say, and sometimes it can hurt someones feelings. People sometimes describe things as gay, not noticing that it is offensive to them and people who are actually gay. The song says that many people follow crowds and stereotypes, making our perspective on people different than who they really are. We should be continue with our lives and be ourselves. Everyone is equal and everyone has human rights. The message is don't judge, there is no difference between ourselves. We are just who we are and you can't change that fact.
