Papier-mâché is literally in french 'chewed paper', it is bound together with an adhesive to create the iconic texture. Boats, masks, sculptures, etc. can all be made from Papier-mâché. The gloop can be relatively cheap, from elmers glue and newspapers to Powdered Marble Gesso and flour. A fun fact is that papier-mache was used in war too. Americans used the mache for lightweight fuel tanks, and british used the mache for sculpting fake people to draw sniper fire. To make the most basic paper mache, you will need a bowl, paper (or any material that would absorb liquids), and a sticky substance, such as elmer's glue. You will mix up the solution, then paste it on whatever. A popular way to make hollow shapes out of papier mache is to use a balloon, and pop the balloon afterwards.

Pencil And Smudging

Different ways to shade, time consuming or not, they all have different outcomes. Smudging is one of the easier or harder ways to shade, depending on your needs. Smudging is very hard to manipulate. You could either make it very good, or very flat, depending on how you work out the value and opacity. It could look very amateur or very professional. I personally think smudging should be saved for photo realistic art, not  20 minute sketches that probably would look horrible with smudging.

Pencils And Art

Shading with pencil, used for/by many types of art, medians, and artists. Shading with pencil is in 2 basic groups, Sketching and Shading. This topic will mostly be about shading, and not much about sketching, that will be in the next topic. Shading is varying density and pressure, hatching, squirkling, and cross-hatching are 3 main techniques of shading. Hatching gives a smooth finish, used for smooth, flat surfaces you want to display. Squirkling is squiggles and random shapes in a dense pattern at darker areas, and opposite at lighter areas. Normally used with abstract, natural shapes/fuzzy and places. Cross-hatching is very 'lined' not very smooth, much more etched and parallel lines varying in density to show dark and light. Cross-hatching can be smooth too, but it increases the effort in making it smooth, because it takes a lot of density to make the technique smooth. These are the 3 main ways to shade, use them wisely.

Shading with pencil. This is a very old and skillful technique to show your artwork, and to show depth, shades, texture, etc. It can be very simple, and geometric or it could be very organic. Technique, repetition, and consistency is very important in shading. Technique, how you apply graphite on the paper. Repetition is how many times you can bring the pencil back and forth on your paper. Consistency is how dense and firm each part of your shading is. While shading is very nice, it could and will take years to master.

Staying Organized

While drawing, painting, sketching, etc. Always stay organized, with your materials, ideas, papers. You have to stay organized because if you have a bright idea, and you're looking for your pencil and paper, but you forget your idea. All because of being disorganized. You can stay organized by buying a 'roll'  multi-purpose pouch, so you can find all your utensils quickly. Instead of fishing through cups,  boxes, etc. You can also by file cabinets, drawers, for paper and paint. Also the perks of staying organized is that your work space looks much more neater, and cleaner.

My Winter Break

All I did in my winter break. The first thing I did in my winter break was to visit my Grandparent's house to celebrate Christmas dinner with my other relatives, but only half of my family went to the dinner. The second thing we did was that we went to Toronto Outlet Mall, everything there is pretty much on sale. So the rest of the days of my winter break, I played my video games, and slept late/sleep in. To sum it up, my winter break was pretty boring.

YOLO Good Or Bad?

posted Dec 19, 2013, 12:01 PM by Unknown user   [ updated Dec 19, 2013, 12:01 PM by PrakashH 84 ]

YOLO is a widely used term in the world right now. It means You Only Live Once, so it is furthermore a saying of that you only live once, and might not have a chance to do it again, so people say YOLO. In my perspective, YOLO is a overly used term, that should only be used under certain circumstances. For example, if you were a very young person, and you were going to jump into a window and hoping to break it, you are wrong. Do not ever do random stunts because of YOLO. But if it was to save your life, as in if you were being kidnapped and the only way out was to jump through a window, go for it. I also think that YOLO is an another way of saying, "It's Now Or Never". Therefore YOLO should only be said, or believed in if you were in a very important position, not a peer popularity crisis, but a life threatening or something along those lines.

Meaning in My name

posted Nov 26, 2013, 7:11 AM by Unknown user   [ updated Dec 19, 2013, 12:05 PM by PrakashH 84 ]

I am pretty sure there is not a reason in my name. At least I am pretty sure it has no meaning, maybe it is some name translated from Chinese by pronunciation. The only meaning I can think of is the way it sounds in Chinese, unfortunately it sounds like nothing in Chinese so I have no idea or no clue what my meaning of my name is. There is a meaning of my name according to the inter-webs, 'crown, wealth' I have no clue what it means.

Middle School Students Walking To School

Should middle school students walk to school? Yes i think they should walk to school, it is good for our/their health, and should save on gas and fumes (global warming). Also middle school students would have more time to talk, before and after school. Overall walking to school is good for everybody, either walking solo, or walking with friends.

The perfect Thanks giving dinner? Firstly the you of course need the turkey, preferably with nice gravy, and spiced up to perfection. Secondly lobster (with butter), AAA New York Steak, on medium rare, maybe montreal spice, and sauce. Thirdly, you have to have desert, maybe All the flavors of ice cream, made in front of you with liquid nitrogen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=da4WZUEkDgI and also all types of cheesecake, and cake. Lastly, you cannot forget the refreshments, slushies, coca cola, and sweet watermelon.
